One word to describe what your funds will provide...
HOPE
.
One-hundred percent of funds raised at the World of Hope Gala -- every penny -- will go to the work of Childvision. Families Thru International Adoption (FTIA) is committed to underwriting Childvision’s administrative expenses so that all funds raised by Childvision can go directly toward helping children.
Childvision’s first major project is our partnership with Kids First Vietnam, an exceptional not-for-profit organization with an inspiring and extraordinary concept. Kids First Vietnam has constructed a village in an area of central Vietnam that was most devastated by the war. Kids First Vietnam brings older orphaned children and others in desperate economic circumstances to the Kids First village where they receive medical care and rehabilitation. They are then enrolled in educational/career training programs that will teach them job skills that are marketable in their communities. Career training opportunities will include English language instruction, computer operation and repair, culinary arts, hospitality/tourism/hotel management, metal and woodwork, business applications, agriculture, and other trades.
Kids First Vietnam village is already serving children by performing exceptional work. Children/teens have already benefited from medical care and rehabilitation, career training through the tourism school (culinary, restaurant, and hotel service) and sewing and embroidery courses (a very marketable trade in Vietnam). Kids First Vietnam’s state-of-the-art wheelchair manufacturing facility is beginning its production phase with orders for pediatric wheelchairs and knee scooters. These are just a few of the ways that Kids First Vietnam is already making a difference in the lives of children aging-out of orphanages who will not be adopted.
What makes the Kids First Vietnam village truly remarkable and unique is that the village itself should become self-sustaining once it is complete! A line of branded “Kids First” products to be sold in the US & Europe, a farm that will produce food for the village’s consumption and for sale at local markets, and the state-of-the-art wheelchair manufacturing facility are among the ventures planned to generate self-sustaining revenue for the village.
In our partnership with Kids First Vietnam, Childvision has already funded the construction of a water tower for the Kids First village. Now that most of the village has been completed and the first education classes have been held, Childvision has set its sights on raising money for a dormitory with an estimated building cost of $185,000. Once we build the dormitory, children will be able to come from orphanages throughout the country to live in the Kids First village while they receive the medical care and education/training they need to cultivate economic independence, HOPE, and the opportunity for a brighter future!
It is our hope and expectation that with your support, Childvision will be able to construct the Kids First village dormitory.
After the Kids First Vietnam village is fully operational, Childvision’s goal is to implement the Kids First village model in several other countries, including China, Guatemala, Russia, Brazil and India. Even if you have not been personally touched by Vietnamese adoption, this opportunity to help is an exciting one, and the model of a Kids First village can be applied to children in need all over the world.
